Wonderful. It’s almost the first time I see someone operating correctly the oxygen torch. Most of the times, the people including schools and professionals insists to do it in the wrong sequence, leading always to dangerous operations as explosions ( shutting the combustible before the oxygen will automatically make a super lean flame, drive the flame to enter the nozzle, leading sometimes to explosion)

Ive used this smith torch for several years and Im getting fed up of the excess costs of 5kg oxy bottles fees, rental, VAT etc! Think I might invest in one of these units. I see they offer a version with a connector especially for the Smith torch as well which is nice. Thanks for the demonstration! Glad to know it can work with the largest nozzle.

Try an HHO torch + electrolysis machine. They cost about the same (if not less) and you only need electricity and water.

I have been watching this system for a while, I generally have some small brands and often the propane is insufficient. I saw something like this on Amazon but in size with about € 150, max 7 liters of flow per minute, maximum purity at 95% with only 1 liter minute. Could my question be suitable for a small torch? Are there other parameters to consider? Considering that I would only use it a few times in a year, how long will it last? Maintenance? Thank you very much, if needed I can provide a link (Amazon Italy).

It’s called The Smith’s Little Torch to be precise…🙄😂 Loads of cheap fake replicas out there, be careful An adjustable propane regulator with gauges is also useful. Gives you precise measurement of pressure and let’s you know how much gas is left..

Wow. Great little video. A few points, some of which may answer questions from your commentors. You can get a reversible, adjustable steel ingot mold with it's own clamp for about $35 to $45 at jewelry equipment suppliers or on ebay. Makes great little bars and flat sheets for use in your rolling mill. Lubricate with a thin coating of WD-40 or a can of ingot mold lubricant. First, NEVER use steel or iron tools in your pickle (Pickle is acid). Only copper tongs/tweezers or copper wire hooks. Iron/steel contaminates the pickle. A lesson in chemistry....When you eat the black cupric (copper) oxides off of the pieces you have soldered, that copper remains dissolved in the liquid acid. When you add iron to the mix, it creates a little problem. If you then later add a silver piece to iron contaminated pickle, the copper will chemically plate itself to the silver, leaving it a nice, shiny pink, and if left long enough, will start to blacken. You can't eat the copper back off. It must be sanded, filed, or ground off. You will say a lot of bad words when you do this, especially if it is a complicated, intricate piece. Empty your pickle and start with fresh. Even the little steel springs inside bracelet, chain clasps, or lever back earrings can gradually cause a contamination. A quick swish might not be so bad, but don't leave them in long. Some say nickel will also do this to your pickle, (sometimes called nickel silver or german silver, there is no silver in either, it's just pure nickel. Do not breathe nickel fumes while soldering or grinding if you use it instead of silver. Can cause metal fume fever or worse. Nickel can also cause skin rashes in some people). I have never noticed it to affect my pickle when I have used nickel. There is also a different formula of pickle some use for it, called, of course, nickel pickle....Some use this formula for brass, bronze, copper, and imitation gold alloys. (I find regular pickle ok for the copper alloys, but with yellow brass and yellow colored bronzes, it will only eat the black cupric oxide off, and leave a red layer on the surface. To eat the red off, mix dry granular pickle with hydrogen peroxide. It will get a little warm, and stirring helps, but will remove the red layer. Don't leave it in too long or it will replate the red back on thick.) My favorite pickle is sodium bisufate dry granular acid (HNaO4S), mix a couple tablespoons in about a pint of water. Pickle also comes under some brand names, like Sparex, Black Magic, etc. Always add acid to water, never water to acid. I remember it in alphabetical order. A comes before W, acid to water. Adding it the other way, water to acid, can create a sometimes violent exothermic reaction and heat up your glass container so fast it can explode. Not likely to happen with such a weak acid as pickle, but you never know. You can get the dry granules anywhere that sells jewelry supplies, or sometimes at pool supply stores. When it starts turning blue or green or the copper starts plating your silver pieces, change out your pickle. Pickle left to itself uncovered will dry up, can sometimes create dentritic crystals as it condenses, which will climb up out of your jar and all over your countertop. Clean up with water and sodium bicarbonate (baking soda). Baking soda neutralizes acid. (Mix a spray bottle with 1/4 cup baking soda to 4 cups water and keep it handy. You can scatter dry baking soda on larger acid spills.) Apply until it stops fizzing, then all the acid is done. Pickle is not going to immediately burn your skin, (Unless you have a cut or open skin , then it stings pretty good!) but I don't recommend getting it on you. Always protect your eyes when using chemicals. If you get it on clothing, and it dries, the next time you wash that garment, the spots will probably dissolve away the fabric wherever it splashed and leave some nice holes. Pickle works best when quite warm. There are several varieties of pickle heating pots available. Use good ventilation in your shop, don't breathe the fumes. Always keep a lid on your pickle to reduce the fumes and help control evaporation. I use a coffee cup warmer with a 500ml glass beaker and a blue plastic beaker lid. Don't let it cook dry, always turn off your pot when not in use. Always clearly label your chemical jars, flux bottles, rinse water containers, etc.

So the secret is to load the felt wheel by going slow with the Dremel tool. This stuff is hard,, not a paste and I tried to load the felt but used high speed to load it and it just flew all over. Yes.. its great stuff once you find out how to use it. So heating is not necessary as I was considering. Thanks!

Thankyou for including one of our oxycons in your video. Although when using propane your set up will operate without one, we do highly recommend using a flashback arrestor as an extra safety precaution. A flashback arrestor isn't needed with the oxycon as there is one built into the system. Thanks again.

I use Zam to polish my silver when making jewelry. First I use Bobbing compound, then Zam. Zam is useful for polishing stones (not fine jewelry) when they start to lose their shine. When cutting cabochons, I use diamond paste on felt for a final polish, 15,000 grit or higher, then set it in my silver jewelry. Rock on!
